LUNENBURG HARBOUR
LUNENBURG HARBOUR
Fiona Alice published her first knitting book, Take Heart: A Transatlantic Knitting Journey, with Pom Pom Press in 2015. Those patterns are now slowly becoming available as individual downloads for the first time.
The idea for these socks originated some time ago; they were the first piece Fiona designed for this collection, as well as her first ever foray into sock design. Fiona wanted to combine a delicate style with the natural fuzzy halo alpaca takes on when worn, allowing it to bloom. Slipped stitches adorn the toes and cuffs, creating a subtle geometric pattern, while the double trim of picots and lace add an air of elegance. These socks inspired the other pieces in this book, and geometric motifs became a recurring theme throughout the collection.
