GNEISS

€7.50

Gneiss is a raglan pullover that was originally published Amirisu’s Issue 14, Fall 2017. Fiona was inspired by bold geometric shapes and contrasting textures. She wanted to create a design that reflects this and can also be an essential piece in an autumn wardrobe.

Gneiss is a classic raglan pullover and construction will begin as a top-down sweater. The top textures is 1x1 Ribbing while the bottom textures is Reverse Stocking Stitch. To achieve the triangular detail on the back, the front and the back are worked separately after the sleeves are put on hold. The triangular feature is then work in Intarsia. Once the front and back sections are finished, they will only need to be seamed together.

NOTES
This sweater begins as a top down design. Once the piece is ready to be divided for the sleeves, the front and back are then worked separately to allow for the two-color Intarsia pattern on the back. After the front and back are both finished, the sweater’s side seams are sewn together and then the sleeves are picked up and worked in the round. If using hand dyed yarn for this design, it is recommended to alternate between two balls at once to create a fabric with even color distribution.

Gneiss is also available in Japanese.
